The 1914 Spanish Mission–style schoolhouse in Goffs (population 12) is a fun stop along this sun-drenched stretch of highway. In the old classroom, historic photographs illustrate the tough life on the edge of the Mojave, while outside you're free to wander around a graveyard of gracefully rusting vintage cars, gas pumps and even a bullet-riddled old school bus.
