This contemporary art Gallery of Modern Art features modern works from local and international artists, housed in a graceful neoclassical building on elegant Royal Exchange Square. The original interior is an ornate contrast to the inventive art on display; all exhibitions are temporary and free to visit. There are also valiant efforts made to keep the kids entertained, from museum trails to art clubs.
Outside the museum stands the horseback statue of the Duke of Wellington, which is invariably crowned with a traffic cone – an iconic symbol of Glaswegian humor and defiance. Street artist Banksy claims it's his favorite work of art in the UK.
