Ethnographic Museum

Inside the 16th-century former town hall, the excellent Ethnographic Museum provides a deep dive into Polish rural culture. Peruse reconstructed interiors of traditional Polish peasant cottages, explore the hardships of Polish serfdom, and admire beautifully embroidered traditional costume. Rzeczy Ludskie (Human Objects) asks you to view possessions taken out of context (painted Easter egg, illiterate farmer’s prayer book…) while contemplating the complexity of individual lives. The final section consists of folk art, from wood carvings to extraordinary Christmas cribs.
