Every Saturday night, a festive atmosphere takes over Avenida Madero. The street is closed, street performers appear, food vendors set up shop and at 9pm, a brilliant fireworks display is held over the cathedral. The city icon is lit up in myriad colors, the lights bursting from above, music playing and the crowds cheering. Get there by 8:45pm to secure a good spot.
At the end of the fireworks, follow the crowd to nearby Plaza Valladolid. There, at 9:30pm, a 3D sound and light show is projected onto the facade of the Templo de San Francisco, telling the story of Morelia through animation, music and voice-over.
