Built near Calcutta and launched in 1853, the Edwin Fox is purportedly the world’s ninth-oldest surviving ship. During its chequered career it carried troops to the Crimean War, booze to India and immigrants to NZ. Most notably, it's the last remaining ship to have transported convicts to Australia. Displays relate its fascinating story but the real thrill is walking around the ship itself, moored in a dry dock next door.
