This eclectic museum features the historic home of St Clair Whitman, a main player in both Cedar Key's pencil factory and fiber mill, who arrived in the area in 1882. At the time of writing, the home was closed for an extended period of renovation (check the website for updates), but Whitman's vast collection of insects, butterflies, glass, sea grass, bottles and infinite varieties of seashells can still be seen in the small exhibit area in the adjacent museum.
After your visit, enjoy a bucolic walk on the surrounding nature trails.
