The first cave, the Temple of the King of the Gods, has a 15m-long reclining Buddha. The so-called "sleeping" position actually depicts Buddha attaining paranirvana (entering nirvana) upon his death. Ananda, the Buddha’s loyal disciple, and a seated Buddha are depicted nearby.
