Carnegie Hall

This legendary concert hall (how do you get here? Practice, practice, practice!) may not be the world's biggest nor its grandest, but it's definitely one of the most acoustically blessed. Classical, jazz and folk greats feature in the main Isaac Stern Auditorium. Smaller Zankel Hall hosts edgier, eclectic names, and intimate Weill Recital Hall is for chamber music.

Guided tours ($20) shed light on the venue's storied history. If you're attending a concert, allow time to visit the Rose Museum, which opens a bit before showtime and documents the venue's illustrious history.
