Kirriemuir Hill, northeast of the town center, enjoys grand views towards the Angus Glens. The 1930s cricket pavilion here was gifted to the town by famous son JM Barrie, and is now managed by local volunteers. The camera obscura incorporated into its pointed turret uses a lens to project live images of the surrounding countryside on to a viewing table, and is one of only four in Scotland. Barrie is buried in the nearby cemetery – follow the signs to visit his grave.
