Backed by the Pioneer River and reassuringly stinger-free, this three-tiered artificial lagoon has kids' play areas, water slides, grassed picnic areas, and a cafe. A great place for families to while away a hot day, the water gets as deep as 1.8m in places.
The lagoon is one of the stops along the pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly 20km-long Bluewater Trail that winds its way around central Mackay.
