Cycling Chemuyil's Cenotes
Overview
Now that you've biked through ruins, it's time to experience another of Tulum's signature attractions. Today's activity focuses on cenotes, cave water holes that make for a mystical swimming experience. Savor breakfast at your hotel this morning before meeting your driver for today's day trip to Chemuyil, a small beachfront community with abundant white sand beaches and shallow waters. Today's tour operates through the Bejil Ha project, the brainchild of five Chemuyil community members who aim to introduce and preserve the cenotes of their childhoods through intentional tourism. Here, your expert local guide will assign you a bicycle, leading you on a charming cycling tour through this scenic village. Over the span of about five hours, you'll visit three cenotes of varying shapes and sizes, comparing and contrasting each magnificent landscape. At every stop, you'll have the opportunity to swim in the refreshing waters and enjoy the surrounding nature. After this enthralling cenote pilgrimage, you'll return to your Tulum hotel, with time to freshen up and enjoy your last evening in this Caribbean hideaway. (Breakfast, Lunch)
Highlights
Cenotes of Chemuyil
On today's cenote tour, your expert local guide will greet you with a plate of fruit, briefing you on the day's agenda. Once you get your bicycle, you'll set off through Chemuyil, and make the day's first stop at La Cuevita, an enclosed cenote. Afterward, you'll head to an open cenote where, with some luck, you'll witness the endemic birds of the Yucatán Peninsula, and, finally, an open cenote primed for a dip. While distinct in appearance and location, each cenote is fed by the world's largest underground river and connects in spirituality and significance.
Chemuyil
A beloved beachfront nook just about 30 minutes from Tulum, Chemuyil harbors cenote after cenote — an outdoor adventurer's paradise. During today's guided bike tour, not only will you visit three cenotes, but you'll also observe the natural beauty of this stunning town, where sandy shorelines give way to clear, turquoise waters and the sun brightens communal streets.
