Let the Trekking Begin! The Route From Ghandruk to Chhomrong
Overview
Today begins the trekking stretch of your Nepal adventure, immersing you in the landscapes you came here to see. This morning, you'll enjoy breakfast at your lodge before lacing up your hiking boots. You’ll be making your way from Ghandruk to Chhomrong, a beautiful village perched at 2,170 meters. In total, the journey will take you between five and six hours, leading you through scenic views of terraced fields, rhododendron forests, and, of course, the Annapurna Range. As you make your way uphill, the trail’s picturesque landscapes and tranquil surroundings will prove hiking’s most crucial cliche: Your trek isn’t just about the destination but, also, about the journey. You’ll end today’s hike at a tea house, where you’ll enjoy dinner and conversations with fellow hikers. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Highlights
Chhomrong
Just south of the Himalaya Mountains, this traditional Nepalese village attracts hikers far and wide as a common stopping point en route to — yes — Annapurna Base Camp. Yet while small, the town is big on heart and culture; you’ll not only find your evening’s tea house but can also visit the likes of additional guest houses, cafes, and souvenir shops. If you arrive here early, you can attempt to spot some local wildlife, typically in the form of mountain goats and birds, or relax by the stunning Chhomrong River.
