Yesterday, you glimpsed a range of Lake Clark National Park’s wildlife — so today, you’ll focus on one particular species: brown bears. After breakfast this morning, you’ll experience the once-in-a-lifetime thrill of seeing brown bears thriving in their natural habitat. You’ll meet a local expert guide for a bear viewing tour directly from your lodge, where you’ll witness these bears in habitats they’ve been known to frequent, watching as they go about their days. When your tour wraps up, you’ll bid a fond farewell to Lake Clark and fly back to Anchorage the way you came. Upon landing, you’ll return to your bed and breakfast, with free time this evening to grab dinner, explore the city, and gear up for the next stage of your adventure.
During today’s guided bear viewing tour, you’ll follow your local expert guide into the local landscapes, where you’ll witness these magnificent mammals in their natural habitat. Watch as they forage in the local meadows for sedge grasses, dig for razor clams at low tide, and chase salmon in their native streams. As you scour the landscapes for black bears, your knowledgeable guide will provide helpful information, teaching you about the animals’ behavioral nuances and bear biology.
Now that you’re back in a cityscape, you have plenty of options for how to spend your evening in Anchorage. Depending on the season, you can take advantage of the midnight sun; in the summertime, a range of the city’s attractions — from the zoo and botanical gardens to local parks — remains open late into the evening, so there’s no ticking clock here. You can even take a late-night hike with the sun on your side. For a taste of local Alaskan culture, you can alternatively partake in evening entertainment by way of a live performance, local brewery, or theater show.
