Designed by Alvar Aalto, this historic house was built in the 1920s for the use of the civil guard and the Lotta Svärd organisation (a voluntary women's defence force). Nowadays it's a museum that details the history of voluntary defence work in Finland. Lotta Svärd was an unarmed defence force that undertook military service during WWII and became one of the world’s largest auxiliaries.
