If you're interested in the Kalevala or Karelian culture, pay a visit to this excellent resource center inside a beautiful hand-hewn timber building made using traditional methods and modern styling – its 24 wooden pillars support a roof covered with lingonberries and heather. Passionate staff are very knowledgeable; there are also themed art and photography exhibitions here each year.
