In the heart of Tsim Sha Tsui, just off Nathan Rd, 13-hectare Kowloon Park is a blend of inviting green spaces, including a Chinese garden, a lake with flamingos and a fringe of banyan trees. The park occupies the former site of a British army barracks, part of which has been converted into the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre, a museum (free to enter but closed Thursdays) with interactive displays showing the evolution of Hong Kong. You’ll also find the impressive Kowloon Mosque & Islamic Centre, built in 1984 atop an earlier mosque established to serve the Indian Muslim troops of the British army who were stationed in the park. On hot summer days, the Kowloon Park Swimming Complex beckons with its lagoon-like outdoor swimming areas.
On Sunday afternoons from 2.30pm, martial-arts and dragon dances are performed at "Kung Fu Corner" at the park's Sculpture Walk.
