About Sebastian
I'm a writer and photographer who spent two years as Lonely Planet's editor-at-large. Prior to that, in 2019, I was selected to be the New York Times' 52 Places Traveler, which had me traveling to and reporting from all the places on the Times' 52 Places to Go list. I've also contributed to Condé Nast Traveler, the Washington Post, BBC Travel, and other publications.
Having lived in six countries on four continents, home is a complicated topic, but I'm happiest when on the road. Catch me with everything I need loaded onto my bicycle winding along a country road in Upstate New York or reaching enlightenment over a hot bowl of noodles and a cold beer on a plastic stool down a Hanoi alleyway.
