About Matt
Matt grew up chasing cows and horses in the mountains of New South Wales, was transplanted as a teen to the Gold Coast glitter strip, studied to become a sports journalist, then landed a job in China, where a demon travel bug was awakened and unleashed. After a half-lap of the world, he settled in Cambodia and dived into the dark realms of human trafficking and environmental crime - as a journalist, that is, working on groundbreaking exposés. In between, he's groomed world-famous racehorses in Ireland, chased poachers with vigilante indigenous groups, represented Cambodia in four different sports, shot a film about sword-fighting fishing fleets in the Gulf of Thailand and built a disco-themed pirate ship for his niece. His mum's always telling him to slow down, but he reckons it's her fault for having never taught him how to use the brakes.
