About Belinda
I love mountaintops and my home Australia's empty beaches, and yet, I've also been bumping shoulders with some of Cairo's 25 million souls on and off or nearly two decades. Perhaps it's the superstitions and the storytelling, but the Middle East, and North Africa and Central Asia have always set me spellbound. Hand on my heart, I'm a total Melburnian: a coffee snob and architecture aficionado, I stalk fragrant laneways for a mural with but a moment to live, I jump between trams like a gazelle jumps the Serengeti. I've reported from all continents and lived in three, unspooling layers of history to find the connections that link us to our past. Give me a sandy desert, a long train journey and a swim on Australia's Mornington Peninsula, I'll give you the happiest traveller.
