About Alicia
I'm Alicia Valenski, an American travel writer and speaker and author of The LGBTQ+ Travel Guide for Lonely Planet. I now live in the Netherlands where I'm navigating life as a queer, neurodivergent expat with my partner, our dog, and a GPS that's forever confused by the country's endless bike paths. My dream destinations are warm, welcoming, and wine-forward with plenty of bookshops to explore. I prefer to travel by train rather than by plane as often as possible, and I stubbornly refuse to check a bag.
