Perhaps it's the disconcerting angular nature of the building itself or the disjointed layout of the displays, but there's something about this celebration of all things Australian that doesn't quite gel in the way that Canberra's other national cultural institutions do. That said, the room jam-packed with Aboriginal artefacts is fascinating, and the museum often plays host to blockbuster touring exhibitions. Don't miss the 12-minute introductory film, shown in the small rotating Circa Theatre.
