Maleny Botanic Gardens

Gardens in Maleny

This mind-clearing oasis is the labour of love of South African Frank Shipp, who since 2005 has transformed 12 acres of steep escarpment into a manicured wonderland. Meander along over 6km of paths, past hedges, lawns, and ponds, soaking up a natural tapestry of rare cycads, orchids, roses, azaleas and annuals – not to mention sweeping views of the Glasshouse Mountains. The gardens are also home to a massive aviary, with 300-plus birds including Technicolor lorikeets and macaws.

Caution: the driveway is extremely steep.
