   Portland's aerial tram runs from the south Waterfront (there's a streetcar stop) to Marquam Hill. The tram runs along a 3300ft line up a vertical ascent of 500ft. The ride takes three minutes and costs $4 round-trip. The tram opened in 2007, smashing its budget predictions and causing much public controversy.
