    Anderson Ranch Art Center

    If Aspen is your kind of place, but snow ain't your thing, then a summertime site to consider is Anderson Ranch Arts Center, a nonprofit arts institution recommended for its wonderful array of five-day summer courses focusing on crafts and creativity for children, families and aspiring or working artists. It also offers residencies.

    Aspen Recreation Center

    Aspen is justifiably proud of its recreation center, which is loaded with facilities including pools and hot tubs, an ice rink and a climbing wall. Its Aspen Youth Center runs craft sessions, parties and other activities for kids aged eight to 18; summer fun includes roller hockey and skateboarding.

    Government Trail

    Accessed via Buttermilk Rd in Aspen, this 12-mile single-track trail runs all the way to Snowmass. The round trip can take 3 to 4.5 hours, but as long as you're in Snowmass, why not ride the gondola up and bomb down the mountain before coasting back to Aspen town. You'll have earned it.

    Aspen Paragliding

    Feel like fliying? This paragliding outfitter runs tandem flights year round. During the summer, flights take off from the Silver Queen Gondola on Aspen Mountain. In winter, lift off is from Sam's Knob on the top of Snowmass. Private instruction and group courses are also available.

    One of two yoga spots in Aspen, get your yoga, Pilates and massage at this cute Victorian-style-house-turned-studio just off of the main downtown swirl. Highly recommended by locals. Note: the studio sometimes closes between classes if no further appointments are scheduled.

    A high-end outdoor and adventure outfitter specializing in rafting, climbing, fly fishing and paragliding in and around the local mountains. It operates as something of a middleman, but may be able to get you a good deal on multiday multisport adventure packages.

    Aspen's 18-hole public golf course, routinely ranked as one of the top courses in the country, includes chipping and putting areas, a driving range, an elegant clubhouse and a solid pro shop. In the winter this is Aspen's gateway to Nordic nirvana.

    Set at the Snowmass Club golf course, and operated by Ute Mountaineer for over 10 years, this is your gateway to the 60 miles of free, groomed Nordic trails that connect Aspen, Snowmass, Ashcroft and Basalt.

    A splashy private golf and athletic club in Snowmass that also doubles as the area's Nordic Center during winter. Public tee times are available after 1pm. Prices vary depending on the time and season.
