    Snorkel & Dive Center

    The Snorkel & Dive Center is an excellent source of current information and also sells good-quality snorkelling and diving equipment, as well as organising dives. The company also runs PADI, NAUI and CMAS courses. A PADI Open Water course costs around €350 per person (including all equipment, tuition and books). It normally takes four days, though three days is possible at a push.

    Trips out to some of the region's big-ticket sights, like Ephesus and Pamukkale, can be booked at any travel agency and at most hotels and pensions. A day at Ephesus, for example, will set you back around €30 (this includes lunch but not the entrance fee to the Terraced Houses).

    So-called ‘Blue Cruises’ are the most popular daytime activity in Bodrum. Countless excursion boats are moored along Neyzen Tevfik Caddesi and depart each morning for a daytrip on the rolling blue. Itineraries vary greatly, but most boats don't go far (if you're trying to reach one of the other bays on the peninsula it's best to do it by dolmuş instead). One popular destination is Karaada (Black Island), where hot springs gush out of a cave and swimmers rub the orange mud on their skin (its curative powers remain to be seen).
