Lonely Planet review for Jama Masjid
India’s largest mosque can hold a mind-blowing 25,000 people. Towering over Old Delhi, the ‘Friday Mosque’ was Shah Jahan’s final architectural opus, built between 1644 and 1658. It has three gateways, four angle towers and two minarets standing 40m high, and is constructed of alternating vertical strips of red sandstone and white marble. The main entry point is Gate 3.

Very inhospitable.
oscarwilde1 does not recommend this,
We were looking forward to visiting the Jama Masjid, so we were disappointed when we were made to feel most unwelcome. We were pushed and shoved and had to put cover up dresses on though both my husband and I were dressed modestly, in similar attire to that worn at many mosques before. We were horrified when a mosque official brandishing a very large stick started chasing a woman and beating her around the feet. Then they insisted that we pay 200 rs for having a camera with us. Overall a very bad experience.

Take care of rip-offs
snowfox37 recommends this,
at the main-entrance they want to collect an entrance-fee of 200 rupies.Or they want 200 rupies for video-camera.
They pretend to be official. But they don't give you a ticket. If you insist on a ticket, after you have paid, you don't get your money back.
Just remember: ADMISSION IS FREE / VIDEO IS FREE ! -
