Tjudö Vingård
Tjudö Vingård distils spirits from cherries, apples and other berries that make an intriguing taste for any visitor. The whole tour runs for just under four hours and is best combined with lunch or dinner after, which includes crayfish or ostrich from the quirky farm. You can also call ahead and organise a tour, which is a particularly good idea for groups.

Alandia Escargots
Near Kastelholm is Alandia Escargots, which runs a snail safari. This one-hour tour scampers around the snail farm looking at how the gastropods are carefully raised and fattened until they’re gourmet. You’ll get to taste one of the little critters done in garlic butter, but for the squeamish it’s best washed down by a glass of strong cider.

You can rent fishing rods per day/week, canoes per hour/day, boats with four-stroke outboard motor and seating six per two hours/day and beach buggies per two hours/day for. Scooters can be had per two hours/day, including free mileage and a full tank.

Linden Cruises
In July to early August there are cruises aboard the traditional wooden schooner Linden Cruises. There's a four-hour lunch cruise at noon and a four-hour dinner cruise every day. The lunch one leaves from Sjökvarteret and arrives at Västerhamn; the dinner one vice versa.

Röde Orm Bus Tour
From mid-June to mid-August a novel sightseeing tour is operated by Röde Orm Bus Tour. Leaving from the market square in Mariehamn, a red London double-decker bus does a 45-minute tour to Järsö and back, Monday to Friday, from mid-June to mid-August.

Järsö recreation area
The Järsö recreational area, 12km south of Mariehamn at the tip of the peninsula, is a good place for short bicycle and walking tours. The area is at its most beautiful in spring and early summer, when wildflowers cover the ground.

Mariebad is one of those fun northern European waterparks that are excellent for the whole family, with slides, sauna and an indoor-outdoor pool where you swim through a gateway into an external park.

Åland's original Golf Course, boasting 36 holes, is across the bay from Kastelholm. The Slottsbanan course is harder than the Kungsbanan.
