    Mont-Tremblant Ski Centre is the area’s highest peak (968m), and a major ski center with more than 60 runs. Its state-of-the-art facilities include golf courses, water sports, cycling and tennis courts. Bicycles and skates can be rented at the ski center for the 10km skating/cycling path that runs through town and up to the mountain’s edge.

    Aside from rowing a boat yourself, this outfit offers the most ecologically friendly boat tours in Montréal. The silent, electric-powered Le Petit Navire takes passengers on 45-minute tours departing hourly around the Old Port area. Equally intriguing are the 1½-hour cruises up the Canal de Lachine (departing weekends at 2pm).

    The competition pools at the Olympic Stadium are great for laps – they’re among the fastest in the world thanks to a system that reduces water movement. The six indoor pools include a wading pool for tots, a water slide and a diving basin. Call or check online for the current schedule, which can change owing to events and competitions.

    Located on the edge of Lac St-Louis, the Lachine Sailing School organizes regattas on the St Lawrence River, gives free boat tours in late June and early July and rents light craft (windsurf boards, small sailboats and catamarans). Qualified instructors give windsurfing and sailing courses in summer. One-week sailing courses cost $160.

    Among many other services, this all-in-one bicycle shop was offering five guided tours ranging from three-hour routes exploring the Plateau and ave Mont-Royal to six-hour jaunts taking in the Lachine Canal and Parc Jean-Drapeau. They've been suspended but you can buy a booklet of five self-guided tours for around C$5.
