    Nature Cambodia offers quad biking (ATV trips) in the countryside around Phnom Penh. The quads are automatic, so easy to handle for beginners, and prices are pretty affordable at US$15 for one and a half hours or US$35 for a half day. Despite its proximity to the capital, this is rural Cambodia and very beautiful. Longer trips and jeep tours are also available. Follow signs to Choeung Ek and it is about 300m before the entrance. Call ahead as numbers are limited.

    Decent imported bikes (Trek and Giant) are available for rent through the Vicious Cycle, which represents Grasshopper Adventures here. There are even a couple of family bikes available with kiddie seats for US$10. Tours include the Mekong River islands (US$29) or Udong (US$44), both including lunch.

    2Cycle Cambodia rents out local-ish mountain bikes from US$2 per hour to US$6 for the day and have smaller bikes available for children. Book the day before you plan to ride. This is a great way to escape the city without pedalling through the traffic and the countryside is very beautiful.

    Compagnie Fluviale offers an excellent tour up to Angkor in a beautiful traditional boat with comfy cabins. On the way, it accesses small villages for a truly memorable trip. Tours leave every Monday; contact for bookings and quotes. You can buy tickets from where the boat leaves at Sisowath Quay.

    Scan Shuffleboard Lounge

    Unlikely though it may be, Phnom Penh is home to Southeast Asia’s only dedicated shuffleboard lounge, the Scan Shuffleboard Lounge. For the uninitiated, it is like tabletop curling and a lot of fun over a cold beer or two. It’s located on the rooftop of the Scan Hotel.

    Kambol Kart Raceway is a professional circuit located about 12km beyond the airport, and 2km off the road to Sihanoukville. It organises races on Sundays, so if you fancy yourself as the new Michael Schumacher, turn up then. Prices include helmets and racing suits.
