Bus

Most Salvador buses coming from the south go around the Baía de Todos os Santos, but alternately you can disembark at Bom Despacho on the Ilha de Itaparica and catch a boat across the bay. Some bus companies sell their tickets at convenient locations throughout the city, usually at malls. Ask Emtursa or Bahiatursa for more information. Ticket Center (3329 5433; Rua Portão da Piedade, Piedade), facing Shopping Piedade, sells tickets for a variety of bus companies. More convenient is Marlin Ecotours (3321 2125; cnr Rua João de Deus & Rua JC Rabelo), though they tack on R$10 per ticket.

Boats heading for Morro de São Paulo also leave from the Terminal Marítimo Turístico. Four companies have lanchas rapidas (speed boats; R$60, two hours) and two run catamarans (R$50, two hours). The number of daily departures varies according to demand.
