    Lots of outdoor pursuits are on offer in this region, and you can tackle some of them on your own. If you'd rather hire a guide, GeoTur offers tours to Garganta del Diablo, which is the only way to explore the gorge. They also offer hikes to Cerro Tres Picos, as well as activities like rappelling and horse riding.

  2. Kite-surfing Lessons

    While the lagoon is a great spot for canoeing, windsurfing and kite surfing, there are no rental agencies in the town. However, if you show up for a kite-surfing lesson, the teacher may lend you his gear. Classes take place weekends right in front of the visitors center.

    As the sea lions attest, Mar del Plata is one of the best spots for fishing in Argentina. The rocky outcrop at Cabo Corrientes, just north of Playa Grande, is a good spot to try, as are the two breakwaters - Escollera Norte and Escollera Sur - at the port.
