La Rambla
Good for: pickpockets, hustlers, whoremongers, riots, I <3 Barcelona tshirts
Not good for: good food, chilling, good shopping, quiet
Lonely Planet review for La Rambla
Flanked by narrow traffic lanes and plane trees, the middle of La Rambla is a broad pedestrian boulevard, crowded every day until the wee hours with a cross-section of barcelonins and out-of-towners. Dotted with cafes, restaurants, kiosks and news-stands, and enlivened by buskers, pavement artists, mimes and living statues, La Rambla rarely allows a dull moment. It takes its name from a seasonal stream (raml in Arabic) that once ran here.

tourist trap number one
reinardo does not recommend this,
Tourist trap number one in town. Filled to the brim with tourist shops, tourists, hustlers, pickpocketers, hookers, it has lost its role as a meeting point for Barcelonins in the city. Especially on weekend nights on summers this is babylon. It's still a good orientation point in the old town, and when Barça wins crucial games, you can be sure that from midnight till 3 AM the upper part of la rambla transforms into pure chaos and/or a battlefield between drunk supporters and the police, one of the only times the Barcelonins reclaim this place from the tourist industry. For a more 'authentic rambla feel', check out rambla del raval nearby! PS/except for Maoz maybe, dont ever eat or drink at la rambla, very poor quality for outrageous prices!
