Welcome to Selangor & Negeri Sembilan
Selangor billows out from KL, becoming more picturesque the further it extends. The most popular attractions are barely outside the city limits, such as orderly administrative capital Putrajaya and the staggering Batu Caves. Kuala Selangor wins hearts with its fireflies, unhurried village culture unfolds on islands around Klang, and hikers splash beneath Kuala Kubu Bharu's waterfalls. Lost-in-time Bukit Fraser (Fraser's Hill) is almost hidden by the encroaching jungle.
Fiendish traffic follows you across much of Selangor but all is calm southeast, in Negeri Sembilan. Venture here for less-touristed temples, Minangkabau culture and Port Dickson beach life.
Big-hitter attractions are easily toured from KL using public transport, but hiring a car enables you to soak up the countryside: stilt villages, ancient stones and cruising along the coast.
