Lonely Planet review for Long Son Pagoda
This striking pagoda was founded in the late 19th century and has been rebuilt several times over the years. The entrance and roofs are decorated with mosaic dragons constructed of glass and bits of ceramic tile. The main sanctuary is a hall adorned with modern interpretations of traditional motifs. Note the ferocious nose hairs on the colourful dragons wrapped around the pillars on either side of the main altar.

Beautiful place, but watch out for thieves.
mimilka recommends this,
It is a beautful place with a white giant Buddha. There are many foreign
tourists there and locals use this fact to earn big money. There are many young women who come to every foreigner and say that they are students in the school inside this pagoda. They follow tourists and show all places and tell some stories about the pagoda. When they build a trust between you and them, then they say that the school doesn't have enough money and they sell postcards to earn some money for the school. I felt sorry to hear that and I offered them some money. I thought 1 Euro is ok if every tourist gives this money it should be enough. However they say they want 200,000 dong and they give 10 postcards. There are always 2 girls so when I said I will buy only from 1 girl, then she said her friend has today bad luck, nobody wants to buy from her. And then you heart melts. I ended up paying 400,000 dong for 20 postcards. I was new to this money so I didn't realised how much I payed. In the hotel I calculted it was 15 euro (20 dolars). So please be careful before you pay anything to anyone!Good for: People in a group
