Lonely Planet review for Apartheid Museum
The Apartheid Museum, which illustrates the rise and fall of South Africa’s era of segregation and oppression, is an absolute must-see. With plenty of attention to detail and an unsparing emphasis on the inhuman philosophy of apartheid – visitors are handed a card stating their race when they arrive and are required to enter the exhibit through their allotted gate – this remains one of South Africa’s most evocative museums. The museum uses film, text, audio and live accounts to provide a chilling insight into the architecture and implementation of the apartheid system, as well as inspiring accounts of the struggle towards democracy, and is invaluable in understanding the inequalities and tensions that still exist today. It’s an overwhelming experience; particularly distressing is a small chamber in which hang 131 nooses, representative of the 131 government opponents who were executed under antiterrorism laws.

Annapurna IV Expedition
nepalguidetreks recommends this,
Annapurna IV is considered relatively easier mountain to climb among all the Annapurnas. The normal route is approached from Manang side. It requires two hours walking from the base camp to reach the bottom of the mountain. It requires approximately 65 - 70 degrees of steep climbing with fixed ropes of approximately 500 meters to reach camp I. To reach camp II, approximately 1000 meters fixed ropes will be required along the ridge and some stretches of steep climbing. From camp II to camp III it is relatively easy with zigzag crossing and gradually climbing up. However, it will require approximately 1300 - 1500 meters fixed rope. From camp III to the summit, generally fixed rope is not required and the main rope is used. There are possibilities of avalanches between Camp I and Camp II.

incredibly moving and thought provoking
carobbine recommends this,
You really need to be able to take this museum at your own pace, even if you come with fellow travelers. Digest the information slowly - the displays are excellent - and let yourself marvel at the huge social changes that have been taking place in South Africa since. Walking through the last exhibit into the sunshine was a deeply moving experience that I won't forget anytime soon.

Apartheid Museum and Soweto
johnsimmons recommends this,
The museum is a must see. I think that many people know quite a lot about what hapenned in South Africa's dark days but it is good to see a comprehensive display, without the hype of the media. We also did a tour of Soweto- bit of a scary place to go without a guide, we used Ntobi who is a local guide (see www.usizotours.bizgp.co.za). The biggest thing to remember is protection from the sun, bring a good hat, sunglasses and a big bottle of water. There are plenty of places to get drinks but some places sell soft drinks and not water.
