Built with cement imported from Belgium
landventureandrew recommends this,
Or at least, that's what they say! This magnificent architectural jewel was designed by Belgian architect Agustín Goovaerts to be the Antioquia's Governor's Palace. There were many obstacles during it's construction and Mr. Goovaerts returned to Beligium before the project was completed. Actually, the "actual" building is only about one fourth of what was originally sketched on Goovaert's blueprints.
(Still, Goovaerts did many other works during his 8 years in Medellin and Antioquia. He designed part of the Hospital San Vicente De Paul).
Today, the Culture Palace is home of the Antioquia department's historic archive and Museum.
Use Parque Berrío Metro Station and then walk one block north under the Metro's viaduct. It's right next to Botero's Sculpture Plaza and Museo de Antioquia.Good for: architecture, city tour, downtown architecture
