Lonely Planet review for Oriental Pearl Tv Tower
Love it or hate it, this 468m-tall bauble-adorned tripod has become a symbol of Pudong and the Shanghai renaissance. Join the queue for high-altitude views or head to the basement to visit the highly recommended Shanghai History Museum.

Crowded, but the Sky Walk is alone is worth it
natekeegan recommends this,
Though at first, this tour seems to be nothing but overrated and especially overly crowded, it does get better. Move past the mile long lines with shoulder to shoulder crowds and [literally] being pushed into tiny elevators, and you'll get to see some great sights. Though the top and middle bauble aren't much to look at, make your way to the bottom bauble where the sky walk is and it'll all be worth it [plus, the crowds thin out]. Stand on glass overlooking the city and water as openings in the top of the glass whip your hair around. If this still doesn't convince you, then the enjoyment of watching some terrified people get pushed onto the glass by their friends will certainly cheer you up. This is the one place in this tripod that actually felt relaxing...people were more friendly here and it was common to share a laugh with the locals as someone screamed and danced around the glass, trying to stand on the metal supports beneath it.
By the way, don't be surprised if you don't see any tourist that isn't Asian here.
