Guoyeh Prismatic Basalt

Area in Penghu Islands

About 1.1km south of Erkan Old Residences along the coast is the Guoyeh Prismatic Basalt, a beautiful example of the basalt cliffs formed from the cooling lava that created Penghu. Morning is the best time for pictures.

About a minute's drive from Guoyeh Prismatic Basalt, down a slope and to the right, you'll see a small old house with a Western-style facade and an old Chinese shopfront peeking from behind it. Its immediate neighbour – a bright green modern building – is the holiday villa of the owner of Tainan's Chimei Museum.
