On the JR Yosan line, the extremely pleasant and peaceful little town of Ōzu (大洲) is known for its attractive castle, old town and gardens. It's also famous within Japan for cormorant fishing. In season, visitors can watch the cormorants catch and regurgitate their fish from sightseeing boats on the river. Although this has been a successful industry for the town for over 1000 years, its main use today is to entertain tourists. Most people visit Ōzu on a day trip from Matsuyama.
