Welcome to Lake Manasarovar
Most visitors base themselves at picturesque Chiu village, site of Chiu Monastery, on the northwestern shore of the lake. Indian pilgrims often drive around the lake, immersing themselves in the sacred waters at some point. You'll also see Tibetan pilgrims walking the four-day kora path around the lake, or inching round on a 40-day prostration.
If you have the time, it's worthwhile travelling around the eastern side of the lake, visiting Seralung and Trugo monasteries en route, and preferably overnighting. It's an easy day slotted in between Hor Qu and Darchen.
