Welcome to Tung Lung Chau
The ninth largest of Hong Kong's 260 islands, craggy 'East Dragon Island' lies to the east of Hong Kong Island and south of Kowloon. There are prehistoric rock carvings on the island's northern side; while Tung Lung Fort on the northeastern corner testifies to its military status in dynasty China. It is largely uninhabited and its most recent inhabitants, like the owners of Holiday Store noodle shop, moved here in the '60s and '70s and made a living growing vegetables and raising pigs. According to them, if it wasn't for the presence of paved roads and electricity, the island would look exactly as it did 40 years ago.
