A great off-grid spot, Fort Barrington was built in 1779 atop Goat Hill to protect the entrance to St John's Harbour. Those who tackle the brief but steep climb up here can clamber around the partly overgrown ruins and enjoy panoramic photo-ops of the harbor, Deep Bay and the wide open sea.

The main trailhead is near a small bridge past the Grand Royal Antiguan Hotel, with another starting at the north end of Deep Bay, making it easy to combine sightseeing with a dip in the azure seas. Wear sneakers.
