At least 600 years old, Hotel de Draak is the longest continuously running hotel in the Netherlands. Right on the central square, its 64 rooms come in three different decors and are spread over five buildings, most interconnected by art-decked passages. Complete with Prosecco, the impressive breakfast buffet is served in an antique map-ceilinged hall.
Lifts reach most rooms. The best church views are from rooms 116 and 217 in the 'Residence' building while the smallest singles and most stylishly modernised new rooms are in the main building and above the fabulous Hemingway Restaurant. Spending €20 extra on a junior suite can pay dividends if, for example, you get tapestry-adorned, high-beamed room 703 in the Gouden Leeuw building. Parking costs €17.50 a night. Use of the sauna and steam bath is a modest €7.50 per room per stay.
