Sze Lok Yuen Hostel


Nestled 600m above sea level on Tai Mo Shan, this youth hostel on the scenic MacLehose Trail has 84 bunk beds and a campsite. Campers can use the hostel's showers but must bring their own cooking utensils or make the 50-minute trek to Choi Lung Restaurant or Duen Kee Restaurant for a meal. Tents can be rented for HK$40 (HK$55 for non-members).

Take bus 51 from under the footbridge on Tai Ho Rd near Tsuen Wan MTR station (exit A) to the junction of Tai Mo Shan Rd and Tsuen Kam Rd. Walk along Tai Mo Shan Rd for about an hour till you're almost at the peak. After passing a car park, turn right into the footpath and the hostel is another 10 minutes away. A red taxi from Tsuen Wan town to the hostel costs about HK$90.
