Just about everything you always wanted to know about Islam is addressed in this well-curated museum in a stunningly converted souq right on the waterfront. The ground-floor galleries zero in on different aspects of the Islamic faith, including the ritual and importance of the hajj, and on Arab scientific accomplishments, especially in mathematics and astronomy. The upper floors navigate 1400 years of Islamic art and artefacts, including ceramics, woodwork, textiles and jewellery. Don't miss the zodiac mosaic below the central dome.
