The 10 casitas at this new hillside lodging 8 miles north of Dripping Springs make a stylish but comfortable base camp for exploring Austin and the Hill Country. Each stone cottage has a kitchenette and covered patio, and a few have outdoor fireplaces.
The setting, on a terraced hillside thick with scrubby cedars and oaks, feels remote enough for an off-the-grid escape, but it's an easy drive to town. With a popular winery just around the bend and an open-air pavilion on-site, the casitas work well for group getaways, but solos and couples have plenty of privacy too. Pet fee is $30 per stay.
