The attractive Timmerhuis building designed by Rotterdam-based Rem Koolhaas is a classy location for this museum profiling the city's past, present and future. There are three main exhibits – an engaging "History of the City" exhibit on the ground floor with plenty of artifacts and scale models of the city in 1694, 1940 and now; a multimedia space focusing on the stories of local residents; and an upstairs space for temporary exhibitions – as well as a small kids' play area.
