Petite Ceinture du 12e

Park in Bastille & Eastern Paris

From sq Charles Péguy, behind the table-tennis tables, you can access a tiny 200m section of the now-abandoned Petite Ceinture ('little belt') railway line that encircled central Paris from the late 19th century until the line closed to passenger trains in 1934 and freight trains in the early 1990s. This section is now a lovely green park with a nature trail and jardin partagé (community garden).

By 2020, 10km of the Petite Ceinture will be open to the public in total, including another section in the 12e between the Villa du Bel-Air and rue des Meuniers.
