Facing the northern tip of the harbour, the Omari (Great) Mosque is said to be one of the finest examples of Islamic religious architecture of the 13th century and was converted from a fortified Knights Hospitaller structure; it's a muscular buttressed edifice from outside. The interior has been beautifully restored after war damage and features fine stonework and arching. It's open to non-Muslims outside prayer times.
