Municipal Gallery of Athens

Museum in Gazi, Keramikos & Metaxourgio

This city museum shows off Greek artists, primarily from the early and mid-20th century. As the exhibits rotate, the quality varies by what's on, but it's definitely worth a peek – there are always some gems on display. It's set in a grand mansion of many lives, including as the silk factory for which the neighbourhood of Metaxourgio is named. Danish architect Christian Hansen (brother of Theophil, who designed the landmark Athens Academy building on Panepistimiou) designed it in 1833.
